Update: Maps have been shifted over to a new way of using.

A global map tab/window is now opened.

Please do not close this window till your done for the day with FSE.

When you click on the following maps it will update the overlays on the [One Map].

There is no way to automatically have the [One Map] take focus do to spam prevention, so when you click on any of the map actions you will need to navigate to the [One Map]

Right now the following maps are implemented using the new system:

Aircraft - for both groups and pilots

My Flight

Group Assignments

Goods Transfer Assignments

Other maps will be moved over to this new format As time permits.

I will open a specific thread in support for any bug reporting.

Thanks

The maps used in FSE for quite some time were based on Google Maps, and that worked fine with the limits that they had set for free usage limits.

They changed that a bit ago so that what we once got for a daily limit, to less then that for a monthly limit.

We have been working through some different map system and had implemented some of the maps using leafletJS and using the tile server provided by MapBox.

Apparently people use map a lot, and we ate through the free level for that in no time. So we are in a sense back to square one with limited, or no maps.

For us to use a paid service, there is no fixed fee option available, and the more hits, the more fees that would be applied.

As an example the costs for one month with the few limited maps that were reworked for Leaflet was close to $50. That would most likely skyrocket to much much higher if all the maps were comverted over to where we would have to paid probably $1000+ a year, which right now is just not a viable option.

For us to use one of the free tile servers for the map we would have to be really, REALLY frugal on map usage.

There is a way to significantly reduce the hits, but it will take some time to code and implement where a single map tab would be opend in the browser, and the overlay data would be the only thing that would change, and prevent a 'hit' count.

This is just to let you know that when you see map display issues we are aware and are working on finding a solution.

Thanks for your patience.
